This knife is bigger than it looks and by comparing the depth of the screw heads mine also has thicker scales than the one in the picture. I have medium sized hands and was still able to grip this without any problem and it was comfortable for cutting/chopping. My main gripe about this knife which immediately resulted in the loss of one star was that it arrived dull everywhere other than about 1" on the front curve. The point also had more of an axe profile for the last quarter inch that was duller than a discarded antique. This knife was easy enough to sharpen up to where it could cut paper so I have to assume that when it was made in Spain the worker responsible for this task must have went out on a 2-3 hour lunch break and siesta and forgot to sharpen it when he returned. After a proper sharpening I used this knife to cut off about a dozen branches of apple and apricot trees up to 3" thick and it was still sharp enough to thin slice a cucumber afterwards. The profile of this blade allowed it to chop just as well as a slightly heavier SP8 machete but without as much fatigue. There were no nicks or rolled edges so the steel seems durable. What appears too be a saw back is really only good for notching. The sheath was nice with belt loops far enough apart to go on molle gear. The handle retention strap design should keep it secure when closed and has a little bungee on the back which pulls it out of the way and it is unbuttoned and the knife is unsheathed. This is a big knife so sitting down against something with it strapped to your back is going to be a bit uncomfortable. There are cheaper Tracker type knives out there, but the biggest advantage with this one compared to those is that the edge (though initially dull on mine) is at least continuous through the critical spot in the middle. The transition on this one is gentle and can be touched up with a small sharpening stone when needed whereas the cheaper ones would require a bench grinder to even get close to having a usable edge. The shipping was fast once the knife was available only took less than a week after I ordered the knife when Amazon said this product was out of stock until it was fulfilled. The knife is PERFECT. Sharper than any knife I've ever purchase, was able to cut hair off your arm by barely making an attempt, also, cut through paper like it was nothing, it even slipped out of my hand at one point when I first got it and barely touched the sheet on my bed and cut three slits in the sheet. So super sharp. Clean. Great condition and strong material. Passed every test I could throw at it. A knife that will last multiple generations. Best tracker knife for the money!!!! Don't hesitate, but this item NOW. You will not be disappointed. For the price range this knife has a lot of imperfections. I understand they are hand made, but little things like making the point of the blade even are kind of a must when the price range is over 100$. Yes, the knife is robust and feels solid in the hand, but i wanted a cleaner more vibrant knife; I'm talking of course about aesthetics. The one i received had a handle that looked like it was scraped along side the street or sidewalk. User "Omar G." posted photos of the knife showing an excellent pristine finish, the black lining is amazing, I'm so envious. I guess it's a roll of the dice in which knife you get. This is my [second] order of the knife by the way, so i am writing this in complete honestly as a guide to those who favor looks.Edit: As a collector of of high quality knives there is no hyperbole in my review, I am always honest. However, i did forget to mention finer aspects of the knife. For instance. the sheath included with the knife is a very fine quality leather with a secure strap. Also included in the package is firestarter for outdoor use. Excellent trinket if you do not have a lighter on hand. The ergonomics of the knife are extremely refined, this knife let's you know it's a chopper and gives you the security of a good grip with it's textured micarta handle slabs. It is a good knife... however i simply got a bad draw looks wise. I would also like to add that the company selling this knife is very concerned with customer satisfaction, and has got out of there way to look into these matters with me. For Excellent customer service, i am increasing the rating of this review from 2 stars to 5 stars.I have a no.55 and no.1. I like both, prefer the no.1. I’m torn on this one. I’ve used it and it gets the job done. However it’s the sloppiest blade so far. The grind is very noticeably uneven and there seem to be tooling marks near the edge. The finish is as if a child were trying to scrub dirt off with an sos pad. It’s very unattractive. It’s no showpiece. I like the handle and the sheath. The knife feels good and like I said, it works. You could spend some time and spruce it up. It’s a budget TB tracker with a hit or miss blade finish. 4 stars for its performance, handle, sheath quality. The downside of the sheath is that it’s a rear carry so you’ll have to grab lefty if you want to front carry. The quality of this product is outstanding! There is nothing to complain about!First glance: very well built, perfect weight and balance. Handle and blade are beautiful to look at and appear very durable. Can’t wait to test it out this Spring. Will add a follow up review. This exceeded all my expectations. I always wanted a tracker knife to serve all backcountry bush-crafting purpose. This knife is heavy. Blade length is just perfect. The handle is ergonomic and beautifully crafted. It came with good sharpness. The leather sheath is quite strong and well made. The chopping action of this knife is unparalleled. You don’t need an axe or machete to cut through branches. This heavy knife will serve the purpose. It’s good for batoning, collecting wood chips and fire starting. You can chop through medium size branches. For larger woods I carry a saw separately. Fine wood works can also be done with little bit of practice. If you are looking for a good tracker knife, look no further. This Spanish knife will cost you little more, but much better quality than those China made cheap Ottoza trackers. And this is also better than the original Tops Tom Brown Tracker which costs almost double of this one. With so many pros, one defect I observed: The knife stayed in the sheath for quite long time before delivery. So the knife was hardly sticked to the inner surface of the sheath. I had to pull it hard to get out for the first time, and in the process it cut a very little piece of leather in my sheath. This made me a little disappointed. But once I got it out for the first time, it was as smooth to push in and pull out like a knife cutting through butter.
